Jackson Heights Transportation Safety Forum
In January, students at the Joseph Pulitzer Junior High School in Queens gathered to say goodbye Miguel Torres. Their 11-year-old classmate had been struck and killed by a dump truck, only blocks from their school, the week before. Torres’s death was an unspeakable crime, and now, the neighborhood is organizing to prevent it from every happening again.
Join Council Member Daniel Dromm, the Jackson Heights Green Alliance and Transportation Alternatives for a Jackson Height Safety Forum. Representatives from the NYC DOT and the NYPD will be in attendance to answer questions and respond to community concerns. The help of local residents is needed to identify dangerous areas and traffic safety issues for walkers.
