Public Meeting: Hell’s Kitchen Transportation Study

After five years, DOT is ready to present the results of its transportation study of the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood. The purpose of the public meeting will be to present improvements that have been analyzed in the study. Transportation improvements to be presented include the following:

  • Consistent enforcement of PM peak period bus-only right turn, at 41st St. & 9th Ave
  • Ban PM peak period westbound left-turn for buses from 42nd St at 9th Ave, in conjunction with PM peak period SB contra-flow bus lane on Dyer Ave from 42nd to 41st St
  • Ban left turn from 37th St into Lincoln Tunnel lanes of 9th Ave
  • Signalized north-south pedestrian crossing on west side of 9th Ave at 36thSt/Lincoln Tunnel ramp
  • Close Northbound Dyer Avenue between 34th & 35th Streets
  • 8th & 9th Aves bike project, with split-phase left turns from 9th Ave at 34th, 40th and 42nd Streets
  • Converting part of the two-way section of 11th Ave to single northbound lane from 45th to 54th Street
  • Leading Pedestrian Interval (LPI) at various locations
