Interested in biking around Manhattan mostly protected from traffic while experiencing some of DOT’s newest projects and car-free public spaces?

Join the New York City Department of Transportation on a leisurely paced ride and experience Manhattan’s emerging network of physically protected bicycle paths and car-free public spaces from Lower Manhattan north to Midtown. Ride marshals from DOT will escort you from City Hall Park north to Times Square and back highlighting many of DOT’s new cutting edge bicycle facilities and public spaces, including 8th Avenue, Times Square, Broadway, Madison Square, Grand Street, and Allen/Pike Streets as well as pointing out new bicycle-friendly connections to the Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Williamsburg Bridge bicycle paths. On-street bicycle lanes connecting the various protected bicycle paths will also be used. All skill levels welcome. Your bicycle should be in good working order. Helmet is required. The 2010 NYC Cycling Map and other fun giveaways will be provided to participants.
