Keynote Speaker: FTA Deputy Administrator Therese McMillan
Do not miss this unique opportunity to engage with key transportation leaders from the region and across the nation, who will discuss the potential for implementation of regional Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems in the New York metropolitan area.
Highlights include a keynote address by Therese McMillan, FTA Deputy Administrator; remarks on the NYC experience with BRT by Janette Sadik-Khan, Commissioner, NYCDOT; and presentation of newly commissioned research by Prof. Elizabeth Deakin, of UC Berkeley, and Prof. Herbert Levinson of City College of New York, CUNY.
There will be two panel discussions. The first, “The Experience of Other Regional BRT Projects,” will feature representatives from BRT programs in Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington DC, along with an expert on BRT initiatives abroad. The second panel, “Developing Regional Bus Rapid Transit Networks in the NY/NJ Metropolitan Region,” will include public officials and leaders from around the region, such as Helena E. Williams, President, MTA Long Island Rail Road and Hon. Scott Vanderhoef, County Executive, Rockland, discussing key steps for integrating BRT services into existing rail and transit systems.
Additional Co-sponsors include the New York Metro Chapter of the American Planning Association and the Wagner Transportation Association.
