This Week: Bike Parking on UWS, Brown-Bagging With NYMTC

This year's livable streets calendar action kicks off Tuesday with a community board vote on Upper West Side bike parking, followed by forums on transit and development.

  • Tuesday: The full board of Manhattan CB 7 will consider a resolution on converting the now-unused bases of parking meters into bike racks along long stretches of Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues. 6:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday: TA's "Waving Wednesdays" continue through Hasidic Williamsburg.
  • Thursday: Urban Age hosts an intensive one-day conference on how to finance initiatives that accelerate the adoption of greener systems and cleaner technology and make urban neighborhoods more livable. 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. Also Thursday: What makes people leave their cars at home and switch to transit? A NYMTC brown-bag lunch will look at NJ Transit commuter rail ridership patterns over time to weigh the effects of the rapid escalation of gasoline prices, changes to population and employment, and transit service levels. 12:00 noon.
