The Second Annual ‘Place Matters’ Awards: Celebrate the Places that Matter in The Bronx
The Municipal Art Society and City Lore founded the Place Matters project in 1998 to advance the “living cultural heritage of New York and other cities.” For the second year in a row, the Place Matters Awards will honor great places and the people who sustain them. Selected from the “Census of Places that Matter” by a distinguished panel of “Bronxites,” this year’s awards focus on the borough named for the farmland once owned by Jonas Bronck. Sponsored by the Municipal Art Society and City Lore. Supported by the American Express Historic Preservation Fund.
