The 2AS is having mulitiple construction problems unkown to the public. The contractors on the job are in way over their heads. Don't look for a completion before 2020, if that. The MTA engineers on the job are equally in over their heads.

How about some more details, Insider? Comments such as that do little to help anyone understand what's going on. Feel free to contact me at my site on the SAS as well. I'd love to hear more.

From the Post article:

Now, if only Costco sold storage space . . .

I've got a great idea for a business! Local storage space for groceries for apartment dwellers. I could pre-order a lot of the things that people buy most often, in convenient sizes that they can carry home, and even have a delivery service for people who can't carry things! Of course I'd have to charge a premium to cover my costs plus a small profit.

Now I just have to come up with a name for my grocery storage service...

Second avenue is kind of a mess right now with the SAS construction. There are lane closures and some sidewalks have been reduced. Any future BRT/bike lane build out probably won't be fully complete until more of that construction moves underground in the year 3000.

The East Side desperately needs protected bike lanes on 1st and 2nd Aves. If they don't happen as part of the BRT/SBS buildout -- and they're not shown in that rendering -- will they ever happen?

Came across this good news people might be interested in.

http://boston.bizjournals.com/boston/stories/2009/10/26/daily24.html?s=industry&i=logistics_transportation

"The D.C. to Boston corridor was Amtrak’s least subsidized route in fiscal year 2008, according to a study by Pew Charitable Trusts. That Northeast corridor carried the highest passenger volume -- totaling nearly 10.9 million people -- among the train operator’s 44 routes."

"The Northeast corridor’s high-speed Acela Express, one of only three Amtrak lines to turn a profit, made an average of $41 per passenger. In comparison, the heavily utilized Northeast Regional lost nearly $5 per passenger."

Anyone wonder why unemployment is 10.2% with all that stimulus spending, paid for by federal debt that will depress our childrens' standard of living for decades?

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aN1mKmvVAZp4&pos=1

"The trade deficit in the U.S. widened in September by the most in a decade, reflecting rising demand for imported oil and automobiles as the economy rebounded from the worst recession since the 1930s."

Just what we need. I didn't see that in the campaign commercials.
