Come join the T. A. Queens Committee and connect with like-minded Queens neighbors as they tackle advocacy issues and plan fun events in Queens.
The Queens Committee of Transportation Alternatives was founded in 2007 in response to dramatic changes on the streets of Queens. The goal of this volunteer effort is to seize on the recent surge in bicycling, development and new park space to improve bicycling, walking and public transit conditions in Queens. The Committee hosts the Tour de Queens and numerous rides and walks each month.
Current areas of focus are developing neighborhood bike lane networks, establishing a protected bike lane and pedestrian safety measures along the entire length of Queens Boulevard, traffic-calming the dangerous intersection at Astoria Boulevard and 31st Street, and building Transportation Alternatives’ membership in Queens.
October Membership Drive!
A growing base of dues-paying members gives Transportation Alternatives the strength to keep winning the reforms that make our streets safer and more sustainable. That’s why T.A. staff and Queens-based volunteers are organizing a month-long membership drive to build T.A. membership in Queens! Whether you’ve been on board since our founding in 1973, or are brand-new to the livable streets movement, there’s never been a better time to support T.A.’s work and get involved with our hard-working T.A. Queens Volunteer Committee.
