Looks like there aren't any run-offs for Council, James, because the Times declared Yen Chou the winner of the Democratic nomination in District 20 with only 25% of the vote.

Let's be fair. It is easier for Yassky, who reps transit rich northern Brooklyn to come out for congestion pricing than Liu, who reps a more car dependent eastern Queens. It was also Liu who held hearings on the car free parks bill, which I understand hasn't moved forward because of some opposition from community boards in northern Manhattan, and it was Liu who agreed to hold hearings on the bikes in buildings bill, which never would have gotten a hearing in the buildings committee and would never have been enacted. Yassky also was the main proponent of a bill making the city's stipulated fines program, which encourages illegal commercial parking, permanent until TA raised opposition to it. Also, though not transit-related, I will never vote for Yassky because of the convoluted logic he used to justify overturning term limits, which were approved by voters.

It's quite a stretch to say that NYC Comptroller's office has any significance to Transit/livable streets issues. The public advocate (a position with no actual responsibilities) is even less significant. To the extent that people think Yassky has been bad and Liu has been good for these issues, the best bet would be to vote for Yassky and get him out of the way.

Thanks for putting all these facts together in one place. And I'll say it since S-blog and TA can't: VOTE FOR YASSKY if you care about mass transit and livable street issues.

The comptoller could do a lot to advance the livable streets issues and specifically project revenue numbers from real interventions like market rate parking, red light cameras, bridge tolls/congestion pricing, etc.
