		<description>Now is exactly the time to peg the gas tax to inflation, given that there is little to no inflation right now, so it will have a negligible effect at least through the next inflation cycle.  Hell, it couldn&#039;t even be characterized as a tax hike by opponents if it were to be pegged, since there would be no immediate rise in the tax.

When the economy is hot, inflation tends to be higher, and when it&#039;s low, inflation tends to be lower.</description>
