The grand jury just lowered the charges on the shooter from attempted murder to felony assault. Hmmm… shooting someone in the head is just ASSAULT?!?!?!
Now the angle should be why is a firefighter getting away with murder. If the victim had been the firefighter, this would be national news. Total B.S.!

I’m amazed that the Ashville newspaper took the generic motorists-and-cyclists-have-a-hard-time-sharing-the-road angle on this, and not the obvious enraged-motorist-shoots-cyclist-in-head story. The point here is not bicycle safety, it’s road rage. He could have written about why some people go nuts when they are faced with the stresses of traffic.

If a person disagrees with, say, the way another person is disciplining his child in public and decides to shoot him in the head on account of this disagreement, would the paper run a story on the pros and cons of different parenting techniques. This is ridiculous.

Diez pulled a gun and opened fire, hitting the victim in his bicycle helmet, according to police. They said the bullet penetrated the outer lining of the helmet but did not actually hit the victim’s head.

This should thankfully put an end to the bike-helmet-vs.-no-bike-helmet argument once and for all.

Sometimes you have to step back and realize what the initial problem was and if it’s worth where the argument has escalated to. Argument or not, shooting someone in the head because they didn’t want to listen to your “advice” is absoludicris!
