The most common reason people can&#039;t keep their bikes inside their workplace is that the building management doesn&#039;t want the hassle or the liability, and cites the fire code as a reason to exclude bikes, even though the fire code only requires &quot;egress routes&quot; (not cubicles/storage areas etc) to be clear of obstructions.  To really nail the problem, the bill should require building managers to allow bicycles to be stored in people&#039;s work areas or other storage areas as long as they&#039;re not on an egress route.</description>
