"When a reporter described as "not much," the new bill's minor shift in the long-standing 80-20 funding distribution between highways and transit, a Democratic committee source conceded the point."

I am dubious about pushing the bill through quickly. It seems the highway-transit split is not as good as it could be. Most supporters of moving quickly seem to view this as a jobs/economic stimulus bill, and they would be as satisfied with more highway spending as with more transit spending, so the bill is unlikely to be improved if we move quickly.

Say what you will about your position on transportation spending, but I think the attacks on Larry Summers are anti-elitism and anti-intellectualism of the worst kind.

Honestly I see no reason why a man capable of becoming a full professor at an Ivy League school by age 28 should have to have had a callus on his hands at any point in his life.
