Regarding criticism of a veteran air controller for kids' monitored routine instructions to ground traffic.

Are we trying to homoginize America instead of giving youngsters some experience with resposible actions?

Think of what the kids learned in this well supervised experience. Isn't that more important at zero risk to others, than bureaucratic rigorous clamping down on some blanket rules? Now I hear the legal chatter between pilots flying away from controlled areas and about 10,000 feet altitude is being questioned.

Lets applaud the controller for a contribution to bringing up resposible Americans instead of penalizing him!

compliments to Jeffrey W. Baker who commented here:

It's not even fair to say that the gas tax has been static since '93. Given that the gas tax is not indexed to inflation, it would be more accurate to say that the gas tax has been in steady, prolonged decline since '93. In real terms the gas tax today stands about 25% lower than what it was 16 years ago.

Very perceptive! I'll change my tune to stress that difference...(I've just stated it's been unchanged...).

Rangel is right to try to push cap-and-trade first.... if the federal government can actually *SELL* the emissions permits rather than giving them away, it provides a huge pot of money to fund transit.

""Chairman Charles Rangel (D-NY) has influence and moxie to rival any of his fellow lawmakers, but he has been silent on transportation funding issues as health care and climate change legislation take center stage for now.""

Shouldn't the Federal Transportation Reauthorization Bill that we're all talking about be considered one of the most important pieces climate change legislation?
