They have you ride down Whitney and don't point out Minangasli? Or any of the other delicious southeast-Asian restaurants over there? Blasphemy. Did restaurants have to pay to be listed? Or is someone at the planning department just missing out on some really tasty Indonesian food?

Ok, actually, I am very impressed by this map. And if it helps build support for putting bike paths/lanes along the route, so much the better!

I've always believed that more could and should be done to encourage bike tourism in NYC; this is a great start.

The city should install some heavy-duty bike lockers with RFID card access so you can rent a secure locker wherever you are for however long you want. It's obviously more expensive than a bike rack but those with expensive bikes or lots of accessories they don't want stolen will likely be happy to pay for the extra security. This also lessens the need to install indoor bike storage in buildings; just have a bunch of these lockers on the street instead.

Now THAT's cool.

The current administration made more of an effort to publicize the bridge walkways as tourist attractions a la Sidney, Australia, and it seems to have worked because I've never seen so many people on the Brooklyn Bridge walkway.

Perhaps it will succeed in creating critical mass in urban bicycle touring as well.

In the last year or so, the NYC DOT bike lanes installed that go to/from the QBB are just great. I use them often. Nice routes thru Sunnyside and Jackson Heights. I suggest trying them out.
