Funny how maps don't tell the whole picture. This street may read that way on the map, but it is heavily used by buses during drop off and pick up every school day. There are also many kids who are dropped off via cars at the mouth of the street. Children crossing from the Ingersoll apartments have trouble crossing to the school at these busy times safely. Cars and buses need a reminder that children are present and that they need to be more careful.

Also, on weekends, this "street" is ugly blacktop which is reserved for cars that don't use it.

At the street painting, parents of school children and community residents spoke to us about how important the art project was to them. It was a street in heavy need of "repair" and this is a beginning to the solution. We were grateful to all the people who made it happen.

According to the city's GIS site, it's Brooklyn's block 2039, lot 0! No. 15 has 459.25 feet of frontage. Google Street View, however, prominently displays "Do Not Enter" signs on both ends of the block.

Now that I know it's there, I can sneak through with my pony.
