		<description>Anyone know what the Republican plan was? They&#039;re keeping it secret so my guess is it&#039;s probably not politically feasible. Perhaps no taxes, but reduce service severely, then raise fares and tolls to cover the rest, with a dollop of MTA bashing built in.</description>

		<description>The decline in congestion relative to driving cited by the article.  It shows who the biggest beneficiary of congesion pricing is -- drivers who remain on the road.

And why it is perfectly reasonable for them to pay compensation to those who give up their equal right to use those scarce roads through financial support of alternatives.

But again, everyone wants and no one wants to pay, which is exactly how our society ended up in this mess -- and NOT just with regard to the MTA.</description>
