how about setting up watch areas for the District Managers at the City's Community Boards? A bunch of them are tech-savvy and could get into this if they're not already. They all have their own websites so you can find their emails and district boundaries there. They are all in touch with the folks at each city agency responsible for their neighborhoods so could easily pass on concerns *and* keep an eye out to make sure they get fixed. It's such a perfect tool for them - they could even integrate it into their own websites, perhaps.

Ben - Just a suggestion. When viewing the map, can a click on the map = zoom in, instead of create a new marker?

Hey Guys,
Ben from SeeClickFix here.

Just a point of clarification: alerts are sent only if watch areas have been created for public officials.

Here's the cool part: The citizens build the system. You can create a watch area for an official if you have their email address and generally know their geographical area of responsibility.

You can create a watch area at http://www.seeclickfix.com/fixers

You might want to start with your city councilman, a utility co. like con-ed or an email for nyc 311.

Excited to see where New York Takes this.

This is pretty cool. I know there are City of New York staffers who read this blog so this is bound to get some traction. I added an entry just for good measure.

I think this is brilliant. I'm absolutely love the fact that governments are finally figuring out how to use the web to interact with their citizens.
