Anytime the money flows in, Generation Greed takes a little more out.

And every time the money flows out, they call for shared sacrifice from anyone but themselves.

And they threaten to make it worse for us if we don't thank them for it, and don't bother to show up to try to vote against the only candidate for state legislature on the ballot.

I argued for "shared sacrifice" to save public services and benefits for years, but why bother now? You put more in, the retirement age goes down, or money disappears out of the city where more cronies get hired.

Time to grow up and surrender. The kids can start their independent lives in some other city. Let doomsday happen, and maybe the city can turn around in 20 years when Generation Greed and their burdens are gone from the state.

I'm listening now to a caller from Mamaroneck complain about the idea of putting toll booths on the East River bridges.

That's what you get when you put the state in charge of local issues.

I say break up the MTA. Let the suburbs fend for themselves (their farebox recovery is abysmal compared to the city's). Then finally we can return some sanity to these issues.

Same with the banks, IMHO. Stop propping them up and let them fail already. Hell, one of the reasons America's infrastructure is so terrible is that we're too busy throwing piles of cash at bank executives and the like.

And then only run transit services that can break even based on fares.

Such as the subway system with one-third of the stations closed -- still accessible to those who can walk or bike a litte fartehr -- and the Rockaway branch elimiated beyond Howard Beach. So no one Mamaroneck would have to pay for the subway.

MetroNorth, the LIRR, SIR and most of the buses would be eliminated. And the MTA would be held "accountable" by having 2/3 of its employees fired.

LET THE CASH CUSHION DRAIN UNTIL IT IS GONE, AND GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEIR POLITICAL OVERLORDS HAVE TOLD THEM THEY WANT!

I'm not willing to make sacrifices to ensure this happens later, rather than sooner. That just means more of the people who are responsible will be gone when it happens. Which is their generation's entire MO.
