New York is the crossroads of the world, but the intersections at the heart of the city are congested.

Hundreds of thousands walk through Herald Square and Times Square each day on overflowing sidewalks. Traffic on Broadway moves, on average, at only 4.2 miles per hour.

Broadway at Times Square sees 137% more traffic crashes here than the nearby Avenues.

The New York City Department of Transportation invites you to discuss proposed changes to Broadway.

  • Traffic lights with up to 66% more green time.
  • Significant travel time improvements on Sixth and Seventh Avenues.
  • Safer and simpler crossings for pedestrians.

Open up the streets and avenues in Midtown by closing Broadway to traffic at Times Square and Herald Square.
