Five Borough Bicycle Club-January Meeting — A Evening of Upstate Rides

Come and see presentation on two great organized rides upstate.

Cycling The Erie Canal 5BBC Presenters: Mary O'Neill, Caryn Greenberg & Friends. Also scheduled to be present is Robin Dropkin, Executive Director of Parks & Trails-New York, the sponsoring organization of the ride, to chat about her up state advocacy organization.

The Bon-Ton-Roule ride around The Finger Lakes. The principal 5BBC presenter will be Debbie Friedman. On hand will be veteran tour director Al Hastings who runs the event for The YMCA, the sponsoring organization, www.inmotionevents.net.

An errant motorist jumped the curb and crashed first into the tree, then the bike rack, and finally the bike parked here. The LaSalle Blue Line station entrance is just steps away (in the background). Imagine the fate of a bicyclist who might have been locking their ride to the bike rack only to find a 2-ton metal box hurtling in their direction.

Students Paint the Pavement in Brooklyn

Not only did these students beautify their school's street, they also identified it to motorists as a thoroughfare frequented by school-age pedestrians in a way that mere signage and conventional markings do not. There are hundreds of school zones across the city that could benefit from the same treatment.
