Verily, Veritas. And Obama will continue the escalation in Afghanistan. One man, even if president, cannot stop the power of the fossil-fuel, auto, sprawl cabal. Only a mass movement can. The free transit movement grows a little every day. Join us.

It's all very logical: Obama wants to build more highways to ensure continued car dependence to make sure that Americans buy lots of cars so the bailout pays off. Since the US government will soon have a stake in the success of the car companies, the stimulus is just an effort to keep the demand for cars high.

So basically, Obama is consistently pro-car. Where's the change in that?

Let's hope Obama lives up to his billing on this. I know he's only one man but if shakes his head in disappointment by what people propose, maybe they will listen and not fight back too much.

$1.25 gas is only VERY temporary.

So the stimulus will pay not just to perpetuate suburban sprawl, but to expand it. Something tells me that, over time, this will not prove to be a winning formula.
