Funny, I thought the lack of respect for women stemmed from the religious right's energetic undermining of the feminist movement and abortion rights.

The lack of civility and disrespect for woman can be attributed, at least in part, to the elimination of prayer in the schools in the 1960's. Taking away the fear of God, and a general sense of right and wrong and what constitutes good behavior, brings us to our current malaise. Of course, legislating good values will not work without the heart being changed. The Bible says the heart of man is desperately wicked. Who can know it? How can man's heart be changed? There is only one way and the bible lays it out clearly. We all must be renewed from within. Jesus said that "Unless one is born again, he cannot enter the kingdom of God." Our hearts must be reborn and only Jesus can perform this miracle. He is inviting all of us to come to Him so that he can take our stony heart and make into something new and beautiful. Accept Him today as your own personal Lord and Savior. He loves you so much that He died on the cross for your sins personally. Give Him a chance. This will definitely change society as each of us individually, through God's Holy Spirit living within us, help us to love our neighbor as ourselves.
