Love this idea! I would love to start a Bike Bus from Brooklyn into the city. I know there are a lot of us out there.

Anyone else interested? Hop over to Brooklyn By Bike and let me know.

Yup... They moan that the economy is killing 'em and then spend a fortune on car payments and pointless expensive cell-phones (gotta admire the cell phone companies - they're great at generating repeat business by convincing people they need slightly upgraded crap every month or so). It's a telephone!! Its job is to make phone calls!!! The only truly useful improvement since its invention has been the cutting of the cord. Everything else is just crap designed to take money off gullible fools. This week it's my turn to be a grumpy old man.

It's a good idea.

I don't think people have wrapped their heads around how much poorer this country is going to become. People are going to have to cooperate to find ways to create an enjoyable life with less.

In New York they will be doing so without the help, and in fact over the opposition, of a government desperate to suck of resources so that privileges for some can be maintained even as others get poorer. With all the federal bailouts, that set of priorities could go national, Obama or now.

"Yes we can!"

"No way in hell we'll let you!"

This concept can also be called a "commuter mass" or similar. Kind of like a Critical Mass, only useful rather than fun.
