		<description>The publisher (web site) is generally the low-man on the advertising totem pole.  Publishers generally do not have control over which ads appear where and when.  Advertisers can usually choose which sites they appear on, but not which pages and when.  For the most part, ads are programatically chosen based on keywords that appear on the page.</description>

		<description>I rather suspect that some or all of these web pages have ads that are targeted based on the subject matter of the story.  In other words an advertiser has paid to put an ad on every story that has the word &quot;car&quot; or &quot;driver&quot; in it.

There&#039;s also some site (can&#039;t remember which) that whenever I follow a link to it from Streetsblog, it seems like I see the same retractable bollard ad.</description>
