Friendly reminder: today's heavy rain means subway delays - currently, the 1, 6 and F lines are affected but others could be later on. Do yourself a favor and check the MTA website when you're deciding on when/how to get where you're going.

The Amalgamated is home to more than a few old-time lefties and activists,

who should be ashamed of themselves for this reactionary posturing.

"Twelve voices were shouting in anger, and they were all alike. No question, now, what had happened to the faces of the pigs. The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which."

I'll say it again -- any fare increase, tax increase on wages, or tax increases on property is an injustice.

Older generations cashed in and walked off with our future. Make them pay back the debts and the pensions, or default.

The Governor is quoted as saying all options are on the table. But reducing spending on categories where it has soared -- debts, pensions, retiree health care -- is off the table. As is having the retired pay any city and state income taxes at all.

And no, cutting wages and benefits for FUTURE HIRES does not mean that TODAY's politicians and their supporters have done their share. Quite the opposite -- it would be another evil act in the generational war.

There are alternatives. They won't consider them.
