Professor Monheim is a leader and visionary in the fields of urban transportation, development, and public space. Throughout his career Professor Monheim has worked with European cities and towns in the application of progressive planning practices and policies, including traffic calming, pedestrianization strategies, shared street concepts, public transit enhancements, and general public realm improvements. He has lead the traffic calming movement in Germany for more than 40 years and is now taking the concept of shared space to urban districts and high capacity state roads. He will share with us some of this expertise, as well as ideas for New York City and the future of mobility in urbanized areas. (Read about one of Monheim’s recent efforts.)

There will be for a short presentation, followed by conversation and a wine and cheese reception with Professor Monheim and Project for Public Spaces staff.
