		<description>Now I know things are much different in NYCDoT these days so I&#039;m not picking on them but did you ever notice how pedestrian amenities are typically always the last thing that gets fixed.

As an example, where I live in New Jersey if a light bulb in a traffic light goes out, it is fixed within days (I know many are LEDs these days).  However many of the pedestrian signal heads in the central business district where I work have been broken for years even thought the CBD if full of pedestrian traffic for about 18 of 24 hour each day.</description>

		<description>You should see the condition of the city steps in Yonkers, near where I grew up.  I used to take them from Beech Street down to Oak and Van Cortlandt down to Maple.

The again, the rest of the neighborhood isn&#039;t in such great shape either.</description>
