The sixth annual Big Apple Roll Weekend (BAR) is an exciting weekend of group skates, adventures exploring and experiencing New York City on skates. Party with old friends, make new ones, feel the rush of skating the New York City streets. Enjoy the city’s beautiful scenery, smooth pavement, rolling hills and fast straight-aways. Central Park is also the capital of dance skating where you can join the worlds greatest skate dancers for a truly unique experience.

A weekend to explore NY, party with friends, and feel the rush of NYC street skating.

City skating, island hopping, beaches, parks, night life and of course our skates through Times Square.

2008 schedule:

  • Friday Evening Skate (8/15, 6:45 p.m.): Statue of Liberty, Four man-made New York City Waterfalls from 90 - 120 feet tall, Grand Central Station, Times Square.
  • Friday Night Skate (8/15, 10 p.m.): Fast, expert street skaters only!!! Central Park Great Lawn's spec tacular vista, Mayor's Home Gracie Mansion, Columbia University, Grants Tomb, Newly Paved Broadway, Columbus Circle.
  • Saturday Morning Skate (8/16, 9:45 a.m.): PARK AVENUE IS VEHICLE/TRAFFIC FREE FOR YOU! Brooklyn Bridge/City Hall, Ramps/Banks to Play on, Brooklyn Promenade + Fulton Landing Lower Manhattan/Wall Street Vista.
  • Saturday Afternoon Skate (8/16, 4:45 p.m.): Rockefeller Center, Queensboro/59th Street Bridge, Pulaski Bridge Mid-Manhattan Vistas, Williamsburg Bridge, East Village, Madison Square Garden.
  • Sunday Morning Skate (8/17, 9:30 a.m.): Fifth Avenue, New York Public Main Library, Empire State Building, Flatiron Building, Washington Square Park.
  • Sunday Afternoon Skate (8/17, 1 p.m.): Free Group Dance Skate Lesson, and CENTRAL PARK!

BAR 2008 is for intermediate to expert skaters capable of easily handling street skating in groups, during the day and/or night, stopping and turning on all terrain, following all traffic laws. Bikers are welcomed as long as they keep in mind t hat skaters kick-out. Therefore, bikers must give skaters adequate space at all times by riding in the back, front or side of the skaters.
