Creating a waterfront that can be enjoyed and used by all New Yorkers requires true vision. On our tour up the East River, we'll see the work of architects, artists, planners and engineers who have brough imagination and vision to New York's shoreline. We will view The New York City Waterfalls, the eight-to-ten stories-high falls designed by the Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson. As night falls, we will see them illuminated in the summer sky.
We will also see the striking NYC DEP Newtown Creek Waste Water Treatment Plant designed by Polshek Partnership and lit by a halo of blue light, an example of how the most utilitarian structures can achieve the highest of aesthetic standards.
Along the way we will hear lively commentary from our speakers about waterfront buildings, bridges, and parks - and the people who made them happen - and those who will make great things happen in the future.

- Kent Barwick, President, Municipal Art Society
- Roland Lewis, President & CEO, Metropolitan Waterfront Alliance
