Cheers! Paul White and TA, DOT, and all involved are right to be proud.

Still, simply capturing injury and mortality data does not paint the entire picture since a lot more people would be in the streets if cars and trucks were not there or at the very least, if people were safely protected from them.

There must be ways to do this and provide assurances so that the streets truly become public spaces and not the dangerous domains of cars and trucks: Could be design issues relatively easy to address especially, compared to all the time and difficulties that it took to get "intro 99".

It's been such a long slow tedious slog for so many years, expectation levels for sensible urban transport, transit, and a high quality-of-life environment in a very affluent city, most likely, remain way too low.

Interesting...your link to Weinshall's February 2007 testimony against the bill has a photo of her sitting at a table with Deputy Commissioner David Woloch next to her. Today's post has the same David Woloch standing behind Sadik-Khan. The personification of the old DOT and the new DOT. I guess he can say he was against it before he was for it.

Wow, I have to say I'm surprised by this.

Who knew we were allowed to "collect and monitor data" without asking "mother may I?" of Albany.

Its almost like we're first class citizens (almost!)
