I agree with vnm. Plenty of other stuff gets through the legislature despite the presence or appearance of patronage, no reason this should be any different.

FDR--

the cameras barely pay for themselves. they are not about making money for bike lanes, ped improvements and other livable streets upgrades. they are about saving lives and injuries, especially while NYPD resources are stretched thin on crime, security, etc.

Now you know why congestion pricing didn't make it through Albany. The legislation didn't deliver a fat contract directly to some friend of Brodsky, Farrell, Silver or whomever.

Read this week's New York Magazine article on Silver, and how careful he is to keep his members happy. If Gantt wants it, and his old staffer is making money on it, and it can be sold as a traffic calming measure, everybody's happy.
