As Lincoln Center rebuilds under Diller Scofidio + Renfro, so does the surrounding neighborhood. Examine the history of this section of the Upper West Side, from the days it was known as San Juan Hill to the creation of Riverside South, paying particular attention to W. 65th Street and the transformation of other prominent sites. Jane Jacobs, not surprisingly, opposed the creation of Lincoln Center and this tour will consider how some recent projects reflect her ideas. Leader: Matt Postal, architectural historian.
