9:00: Queens feeder ride departs
10:00: Central Park Moonlight Ride begins
Where: Queens feeder ride
Meet at 7:30 p.m. at Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden
29-19 24th Av. (bet. 29th & 31st Sts.)
Astoria, Queens

This is a fun, relaxing auto-free ride through Central Park. Enjoy the tranquillity of the park & its beautiful ponds & waterways: a nature lover's dream. Totally safe. Bike guides front & rear. The ride moves at a very leisurely pace with a few stops to enjoy the scenery. We usually finish before midnight, back at Columbus Circle. We do not require lights (although if you have them you should bring them), and any kind of bike will work.

An errant motorist jumped the curb and crashed first into the tree, then the bike rack, and finally the bike parked here. The LaSalle Blue Line station entrance is just steps away (in the background). Imagine the fate of a bicyclist who might have been locking their ride to the bike rack only to find a 2-ton metal box hurtling in their direction.

Students Paint the Pavement in Brooklyn

Not only did these students beautify their school's street, they also identified it to motorists as a thoroughfare frequented by school-age pedestrians in a way that mere signage and conventional markings do not. There are hundreds of school zones across the city that could benefit from the same treatment.
