With the discussions about PlaNYC, congestion pricing, implementation of the city's first cycle track and new pedestrian plazas, and regional plans for expansion of pedestrian and cyclist friendly facilities, non-motorized transportation has reached a new public awareness.
But what can we really do? What type of street spaces can really be reallocated? Come hear and discuss these ideas with some of New York's most experienced planning and transportation professionals. Let's talk about what New York City and the region are doing now, about plans for the future, and help envision what might really be possible in encouraging more biking and walking.
Panelists include:
- Alex Washburn, Chief Urban Designer, NYC Department of City Planning
- Howard Mann, Pedestrian and Bicycle projects, NYMTC
- Michael King, RA, Principal, Nelson\Nygaard
- Randy Wade, Director of Pedestrian Projects, NYC Department of Transportation
- Hayes Lord, Deputy Bicycle Program Coordinator, NYC Department of Transportation
