The working poor do not drive into Manhattan but I bet Krusty 65 does.

Stop hiding your self-serving comments behind your ridiculous "economic cleansing" of the working poor. Good lord, that doesn't even make sense.

So called 'congestion pricing ' is nothing short of ECONOMIC CLEANSING of the working class and working poor. MTA reported an increase of .3% ridership will cripple the system, period. Original boundaries were from 86th down. Enough of Bloomberg's upper east and westside pals (who are ALL wealthy and won't be impacted in the least) complained so he redrew the boundary from 59th Street down.
You may argue...Look how the Lottery has elevated our school system to the epitomy of Educational Systems on the planet.
Get my drift?
THEY ARE LYING TO YOU.
Bloomberg LIES, he lied about the 'Deadine for $500 million'. There was NO deadline, and the amount was far less than stated.
NY State Senate so through his ruse the 1st time around, let's hope level heads prevail once again.
I voted for Bloomberg and will regret it forever.
He's turned into a micro-managerial meglomaniac who thankfully can't run for mayor again.
I worry which political office he intends to purchas...I mean RUN for..next.

Actually Bobby this has been thought about in substantial detail and all projections do show large revenue increases. Drivers will tend to finally use the TBTA crossings in greater numbers because the perverse incentives will be eliminated. And, the MTA will access the congestion pricing revenues. And, the MTA will realize huge Bus productivity increases.

Think about it.

If you use congestion pricing revenue to fund mass transit you are encouraging reduction in your own revenue just by your very existence.

Obvious Solutions:
1) Toll the East River Crossings.
2) Reverse the Verazzano Toll direction.

Quinnipiac continues to only conduct polls that they can make into easy press releases - not sound public policy polling.

These numbers are sort of baffling and contradictory, aren't they? Seems to speak more to how misinformed the public is about CP than anything else.

CP thankfully won't fly because there is no legal requirement for the revenue to go to the MTA. Also, even if there was a requirement, funding would not be available until the CP infrastructure was paid for which has been approximated at 1.5 to 2 years. Furthermore, even if there was legally dedicated funding requirements, once the feds saw a dedicated source, the federal funding would correspondingly decrease. MTA is destined to beg for money no matter what and CP would simply force more people on transit that is already at a 35-year high in usage with no increased funding for at least 1 to 2 years and it would open up the streets for only those who could afford it. It is an unfair tax and tolling on the bridges combined with regulation of parking placards as well as increased limo/taxi costs should have all been looked at sooner but the green movement got stuck on this stupid proposal and will now make us all suffer.
