This is a great idea. Hopefully some European citizens will contribute. Europe has some of the best "green" roadways and transportation.

On somewhat of a tangent, how about an ADA transit-wiki? It would be great to have a reference for mobility impaired transit users to get detailed information about the configuration of different subway, PATH, commuter rails stops, etc.

Something that provides things like how long of a walk is it to reach the "convenient" elevator, major train terminals that lack high-platforms like Hoboken, etc..

Something that would go above and beyond the official transit provider websites, which are sometimes lacking.

Wiki is right up my alley -- and why not have one on the subject of sustainable transportation. I am sure, given the vast amount of linkage provided here, there is tons of source material available. It's really just a more convenient way for the reader to gain insight into those magic WikiWords, without having to following 5x worth of backlinks!

Great ideas guys... I don't have a resume ;-)

Cool, another Aaron!

I was also wondering why the OPP wants to create a new wiki rather than just putting stuff in an existing wiki, even Wikipedia.

Oh, in particular check out the "Transport" category at appropedia:
http://www.appropedia.org/Category:Transport

It is one of the least well-developed categories at this point. Full-disclosure: I am the "moderator" of that category.

What great news. There has been a preponderance of separate wikis for various topics popping up. Many have joined with Appropedia.org, a wiki for appropriate technology. Might Streetsblog also consider teaming up with Appropedia? This might provide a more fertile ground for cross-pollination. Appropedia is extremely ready to work on collaborative partnerships.
