The NYU Wagner Rudin Center for Transportation Policy and Management would like to announce the names of those chosen to receive its prestigious, 2008 Annual Leadership in Transportation Awards. Included among the four recipients is New York City’s Mayor, Michael R. Bloomberg.

These distinguished individuals and agencies have, in the eyes of the Rudin Center and its Council on Transportation, demonstrated outstanding leadership in advancing the quality and efficiency of the transportation system in the New York metropolitan area.

The award winners include:

  • Public Leader Award: Hon. Michael R. Bloomberg, Mayor, New York City.
  • Civic Leadership: Jonathan Orcutt, New York City Department of Transportation (formerly with Tri-State Transportation Campaign and Transportation Alternatives).
  • Public Agency: MTA New York City Transit, for its SmartCard pilot program.
  • Public Servant: James Clifford Greller, Hudson County Improvement Authority.
