Rockaway Waterfront Alliance, and Transportation Alternatives' Queens Committee are hosting a 45 mile bike ride through Brooklyn to the Rockaway Peninsula to expand on the NYC Greenway path.
Everyone knows beaches are best when the crowds are gone. Join us for a ride from Astoria through Brooklyn and over the beautiful Marine Parkway Bridge/ Jamaica Bay and down to the Rockaways. Once we arrive we will ride the beach boardwalk across the length of the Rockaway Peninsula to see some of the most beautiful beaches in NYC.
Total Mileage is about 45 miles. Pace: relaxed.
There are three locations to pick up the ride:
Ist Meet location: Broadway between 35th Street and 36th Streets, Astoria (at Brooklyn Bagel shop across from the Quinn Building).
Meet time: 9AM
Roll time: 9:30 AM
2nd Meet location: Brooklyn's Grand Army Plaza, Prospect Park entrance side at Prospect Park West
Meet time: Between 10:30 AM
Roll time: 10:45
3rd Meet location for the 14 mile Rockaway loop from Jacob Riis Park along the beach boardwalk to Beach 9th Street and back.
Meet time: 1PM at Jacob Riis Parking lot by playground/restroom
Roll time: 1:45 PM
