They should install a left turn arrow for east bound w 79th street at Amsterdam. This is a very DANGEROUS crossing. Lots of cars try to jump ahead of west bound traffic putting children who are in the north crosswalk either on their way to or from the museum. I have seen at least four people hit by left turning cars.

I was in group C, issue #1, curbside space. My personal thanks to the guy in the I Love NY T-shirt for being our presenter to the group.

We had a very solid group that really, really though we could do better than give away for free all this public space to long term storage of automobiles. We came away with three main points:

1. Market based pricing of all different types of curbside car parking, from short term deliveries to long term residential parking permits. The idea is to both discourage driving as much as possible and eliminate double parking or loading/unloading in the street.

2. Higher diversity of uses of curbside space to move pedestrian obstacles (trash, newsracks, cafes, etc) into the street in place of parked cars.

3. More room for mass transit and higher priority for lanes that service buses and HOVs

"parking for 100 percent of residents in new construction projects"

I think whoever thought of that one needs to rethink what they are actually asking for and what the effects would be.
