The Toupee must be clogging his brain. Werprin had the good fortune of having a father who was the Speaker of the Assembley prior to Sheldon Silver. He is a spoiled rotten snot-nosed, silver-spoon fed creep who has no regards for his staff or his constituents. He sucks. I would take Melinda Katz or Simcha Felder for Comptroller any day before this loser !!

Too bad the Delacorte Theater isn't in Prospect Park. Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz would've been happy to have Weprin driving around there.

Just remember, those who drive everywhere are a minority of the people of NYC, but a majority of the political class. Weprin is absolutely representative. And that is even more the case at the state legislature level, due perpetual incumbency and the absence of term limits.

There are far more important issues affected than whether or not private automobiles are allowed in parks. These folks represent the sort of people who have been cashing in and moving out.

So, they pass pension enhancements for public employees with seniority, to be balanced by ever lower pay and benefits for younger new hires.

Pension and social security income is exempt from state and local (not federal) income taxes, while self employment income is taxed twice.

Debts soar; infrastructure investment lags.

NYC leads the world in home health care and personal care for seniors, but until very recently had horribly underfunded public schools. Schools are overfunded, with our money, elsewhere in the state.

Generational equity issues, financial as well as environmental, are prominent at the federal level as well. Doesn't anyone else care about their own kids? But in NYC, the people many of our reps care about are elsewhere.

See the whole forest, not just this tree.

It is really a shame that Councilmember Weprin doesn't understand how much he is hurting other people by his selfish actions.

If he broke a law, and had his car driven illegally across a pedestrian space (equivalent to a sidewalk) then he ought to be indicted and stripped of his Council status. If Comptroller could realize a similar fate, why not NYC Council Finance Chairman Weprin.

There is something wrong, when these "big boys" get away with murder. He ought to have the good sense to resign, before being prosecuted.

This guy is an opponent to Congestion Pricing? At least we now know why...he'd have to pay more to be chauffered into Manhattan.

Which leads me to ask...why has Bloomberg been silent on placard abuse (like Weprin's)? Why not throw it into the congestion pricing debate?

I've met Weprin several times and he is one of the most socially inept people you will ever meet. He probably doesn't even realize that what he did was wrong.

He's actually running for comptroller, which is the equivalent of the city accountant. His father was the speaker of the assembly in th 1980s and he's probably relying on that name recognition to propel him to victory.

I think he's a goober.

For someone who wants to keep taxes low for his constituents, he seems to like to take credit for spending other people's money. It's our money, not yours. And for that matter it's our streets, parks and public spaces, not your car's.

Got to love a place where "I'll bet he has a front lawn" is an insult.

I wonder what he would say if I drove on his front lawn (I'm guessing he's got one). Way to lead by by example, CM Weprin!
