Weprin is absolutely representative. And that is even more the case at the state legislature level, due perpetual incumbency and the absence of term limits. There are far more important issues affected than whether or not private automobiles are allowed in parks. These folks represent the sort of people who have been cashing in and moving out. So, they pass pension enhancements for public employees with seniority, to be balanced by ever lower pay and benefits for younger new hires. Pension and social security income is exempt from state and local (not federal) income taxes, while self employment income is taxed twice. Debts soar; infrastructure investment lags. If he broke a law, and had his car driven illegally across a pedestrian space (equivalent to a sidewalk) then he ought to be indicted and stripped of his Council status.
