I wish the DOT would get its act together and install a bike rack at the employees entrance to Civil Court on White Street ASAP. Four Civil Court employees biked to work today, and we all had to chain our bikes to "No Parking" signs. Isn't anyone at DOT reading Streetsblog???

For over a year, I have been begging DOT to install bike racks at the employee's entrance to Civil Court on White Street. This morning, there are four bicycles locked to street signs in front of the entrance. I'm mad as hell that my requests for bike racks are falling on deaf ears at City Hall and DOT. As far as I'm concerned, the DOT is completely incompetent when it comes to the issue of bicycle parking and storage.

Maybe these cycling civil servants should do what the driving ones do: print their own placards and put them on their bikes. Then they'll be able to put the bikes anywhere: on the sidewalks, in the halls, even in elevators, and no one will touch them! Remember: "We don't ticket our own."

What happened to the executive order that Mayor Koch issued in 1980 allowing Bike access to many city buildings?? It overcame such 'serious' objections raised at the time bt DCAS as bikes dirtying floors!!
So little progress...so many years have gone by.
