Please join the Greater Gansevoort Urban Improvement Project (GGUIP) for a presentation of preliminary proposals for possible streetscape improvements in the Gansevoort Market area.

In developing these proposals, GGUIP and its consultant team, Sam Schwartz PLLC and Regional Plan Association, sought to develop forward-thinking, feasible strategies for improving the public realm in the Greater Gansevoort area, centering on the 9th Avenue corridor from Gansevoort Street to 16th Street.

Top priorities include improving pedestrian safety and reducing the noise, congestion, and other negative impacts of automotive traffic, as well as making the streets and sidewalks safer, more welcoming, and more attractive. The specific needs both of residents and businesses were considered, as was the need to respect the unique historic quality of the streetscape.

Much work has gone into these proposals, including comprehensive analysis of traffic counts and in-depth community feedback from surveys and public forums. We are eager to show you our work and hear your feedback.
