Posting planning projects online is a great idea. It would be even better if community leaders who were interested in transportation issues could subscribe to a list and get email alerts if something was planned for their Community Board district or borough. Even an RSS feed for those who are technically savvy.

Lee look again. Regarding posting resurfacing and rebuilding info, DOT currently posts only the current week. The point of the recommendation above is posting as far in advance as as DOT has scheduled. It's hoped DOT schedules more than a week in advance.

Speaking of resurfacing, anyone else notice that nothing has happened in Central Park since they did Harlem Hill? The west loop is turning into a mini-Grand Canyon.

Not to sound flip, Lee, but that's precisely what gets some of us in a tizzy. Resurfacing and sidewalk repair are vital to infrastructure needs, but we would love to see the innovative projects online (maybe they already are and I don't see them?), like Grand Army Plaza, Prince/Bleeker bike lanes, Time's Square sidewalk widenings, etc.

Also, it would be fantastic if DOT would post the routine resurfacing information 6 months out, or a year, so that we can advocate for routine traffic calming and safety improvements when the streets are being redone, which would greatly reduce the cost of those important additions.

Several years ago, DOT was stripped of its authority to issue citations to motorists who honk their horns in residential neighborhoods (which theoretically carries a $350 fine). The Bloomberg administration should restore DOT's authority enforce the anti-honking ordinance, and give DOT agent's the authority to issue tickets to drivers who park in bike lanes.
