I'm going to write Mayor Bloomberg to say that I am deeply disappointed that the DOT has apparently rejected a bike lane for Houston Street. The Mayor has stated that he is very concerned about global warming, and the installation of a bike lane on Houston Street is a tangible step we can take on a local level today to reduce the impact of global warming. Besides, it is the only way to prevent additional fatalities and injuries to cyclists in the future. I say the mayor should override the DOT and order the creation of a bike lane on Houston ASAP.
