I am glad that some people realize the advantage of having basic Life services near housing. I have visited NYC many times and love that I can just walk two-three blocks and get my basic life needs. I hope land use planners will see the light and allow the development of basic services in residential areas.

The Mayor has also installed the fabulous Ariella Rosenberg in Rit's office. Ariella is well known in green and sustainable community for her tireless efforts on behalf of promoting green policies. A dyanmo and a half! New York is going to take the lead (if it hasn't already) in the everyone-is-a-winner sweepstakes for greenest city."

This is a great development though- we just need to keep the pressure on...in fact increase the pressure!
Pressure seems to work doesn't it?

The main issue with all these giant plans for the future is that they are coming from an administration that doesn't have a lot of time to set them in motion and get things done. Witness snail's pace of work on bus rapid transit.

It's nice to see the leaders of the biggest state and biggest city joining together for a major environmental announcement, but I believe in actions over words. Bloomberg signed the Mayor's Global Warming Pact over a year ago while he was running for re-election and has yet to lay out his plan to measure NYC's CO2 levels, nevermind a plan to actually reduce that by source.

I hope this speech will finally lay out a specific plan of action to put his promises into reality.
