Aaron, don't you know that playing in the street is WRONG! Same with using your imagination and engaging in any type of play that is unsupervised. Imagination is something you let the guys at video game software developers do - not your children. :)

Seriously though, where is the safe routes to schools program? hmmm why do we need to make a safe route in the first place? It implies that danger is the norm that we consider acceptable everywhere else.

What about safe routes to subway stations, safe routes to hospitals, safe routes to playgrounds, safe routes to grocery stores....

Sure. I grew up playing touch football, kickball, kick-the-can, and cops and robbers in a city street. It's hard to imagine doing that today...

My favorite is the solution to the traffic overflow on Route 110, add more lanes. State Senator Carl Kruger came up with the same solution for southern Flatbush Ave. around Kings Highway. Too many cars, big problem, lets bring on more cars.

Remember the days when horsing around in the street was considered a good thing and much more important than moving every single motor vehicle as fast as inhumanly possible?

(Well, I don't, but I wish I did sometimes.)
