Andrew, you're not that slow. This is only the first time we've ever done it. Hopefully it will be a weekly feature. Thanks for the good word.

I'm a little slow in finding this, but great work. It's gory, it's gruesome and it's necessary. Oppostion to the truth seems to be a growing problem in this country (remember "The Fallen"?). Kudos for laying out the facts in way the major media never would, and that leaves a lasting, depressing and hopefully change-inducing impression.

Or how about if 40,000+ Americans were being killed by buses or trains or bikes? The president would declare a War on Buses, Trains or Bikes.

Great idea - bring on the carnage (news)! Somewhere along the way, Americans seem to have accepted the notion that it is their inalienable right to kill via, or be killed by, automobiles. I somehow think if 40,000 Americans died each year while, say, mowing their lawns, there long ago would have changes in the way we own and operate lawnmowers.

This is an invaluable service to our community and I applaud your effort to bring the carnage to light everyweek. We have come a long way from the days of no seatbelts, no airbags, drunk driving, poor automobile design and poor road design. However, even when all of this has been corrected for (which is rare), automobiles still represent a basic threat to public health and safety because of their weight, speed and high potential of human error.
